Googles Browser Chrome könnte Firefox schon bald seinen Rang als Standardbrowser auf Linux-Systemen ablaufen. In einem Interview äußerte der Chef des Ubuntu-Sponsors und –Distributors Canonical, Mark Shuttleworth derartige Vermutungen. Auf seiner Linux-Distribution könnte schon 2012 ein Firefox-Ersatz verwendet werden.

Das freie Betriebssystem Ubuntu wurde bisher immer mit dem Internetbrowser Firefox ausgeliefert. Wie der Chef des Ubuntu-Sponsors und –Distributors Canonical, Mark Shuttleworth in einem Interview mit NetworkWorld erklärte, könnte sich diese Tradition bald ändern. Seiner Meinung nach, sei der Mozilla-Konkurrent Google mit seinem Browser Chrome immer mehr geeignet, als Standardbrowser auf der bekannten Linux-Distribution zu fungieren.

Bereits für das nächste Release habe man sich darüber beraten, in puncto Internetbrowser einen Wechsel zu wagen.
